To the modern connoisseur of "serious" classical music, a recording like this one might seem like a quaint and lavender-scented trifle, for it features, quite unashamedly, the sort of bourgeois popular music, and the style of performance, that might have been heard in a turn-of-the-century continental cafe. For this recording, the Rembrandt Trio has endeavored to be true to the style of performance that would have been expected.
