Sono Luminus is excited to announce its first digital-only EP featuring the GRAMMY-nominated ZOFO Duet and the exciting Del Sol String Quartet.

The EP starts with a combined piece by composer Kui Dong, bearing the title Shall We Play. This piece combines the two ensembles with an exciting mix of piano-four- hands, string quartet and two toy pianos (performed partially by the composer Kui Dong herself for this recording).

The second and third pieces on the disc are two movements from Mason Bates’ work, Bagatelles for String Quartet and Electronica. Del Sol, who gave the piece’s world premiere earlier this year, gives us a tantalizing taste with this movement; the entire work will be released digitally later this year.

Finally, the GRAMMY-nominated team of ZOFO Duet blazes through the piece Vaporize by composer Joe Duddel.

All of the pieces presented on this digital release are world premiere recordings.

This release signifies the first of what Sono Luminus plans to be many upcoming digital only releases. This Split EP not only combines two of the hottest groups on the Sono Luminus roster, but is also being released in conjunction with their full length albums: Zia by Del Sol String Quartet (DSL-92164), and Mosh Pit (DSL-92167) by ZOFO, the follow up to their GRAMMY-nominated album Mind Meld (DSL-92151).
